"on the road again"

Color in the High Desert
Tomorrow we'll be on the road again - this time to Colorado to visit middle son and his family and also do some plein air painting. I do have some news though. Patricia Freeman-Martin and I will be the featured artists at the High Desert Gallery in Sisters the month of June. This is one of the paintings that is being reframed for the show. I also have many more including some new ones that haven't been at the gallery.

Back from Nevada

This painting was done before we went to Nevada. Gordon and I went down to Tumalo State Park to take advantage of a beautiful afternoon and the great color of the willows. This plein air painting was touched up a bit in the studio.                                                                        We had a great time in Nevada visiting family and now I'm playing "catch up". I touched up this painting a bit by adding a little dark green near the willows on the left side. I also brightened up the willows a bit. Now it's finished. Next week we are off to Colorado to visit more family and also do some plein air painting.

I think I may be finished but could use some comments or suggestions.

Painting at 3 Springs Ranch

We had a great time painting at 3 Springs Ranch on Mother's Day. This plein air painting was done from the front porch of the ranch house. I'm planning on entering it in the PAPO's juried show.

Second day painting on my Malheur River.

Worked on this Malheur River painting this morning and part of this afternoon and am having trouble with the greens. I liked the green of the bush near the bottom on yesterday's painting better than this one! Guess I'll have to wipe some color off and try again tomorrow!

Studio painting afternoon

My start.
I've wanted to start this painting for quite awhile and just decided to forget my "to do" list and paint! I did an underpainting in sort of a watercolor wash-not the way I usually start. Then I started laying in the paint. I really enjoyed myself this afternoon and didn't want to stop. Busy day tomorrow but hope to get back to it on Monday.

Maybe spring is finally here!

It's been so cold but it was warm enough to go to Tumalo State Park yesterday afternoon. Supposed to be nice this afternoon, too, so I plan on going to an undeveloped area near our home to paint. I think I'll touch up this plein air painting just a bit. Maybe lighten and brighten the grass in the foreground. Also have to complete the edges of the sky.
